Prehaps Japanese? Sadly it is affixed to a base with some kind of putty, though it could be removed. Either way, I am thinking of starting a collection and beginning with this.

How can you hope to start a collection of things that you know not what they are......?

    Japanese.
    Enamel painted.
Appears to be older, late 1800s - early 1900s, but that is only a guess. A picture of the bottom might help.

The base is not original to it. Someone attached it the base to keep it from falling over - think earthquake.

    Looks like Satsuma.
Since you have two threads on the same item, I'll answer the other one as well:confused:.

I'm not looking to sell, I'm just wondering about its current monetary value. More for than investment purposes really. I'm in it for the sport, not for the profit.

You said the wooden base can be removed, can we see the bottom of the vase?
If you are looking to invest, it is best to buy something that is not fixed to a wooden base. If the base can be removed, ask for it to be done before buying, so you can judge the condition and make of the entire piece before you buy it.

I bought it and paid 60 bucks. I removed the bottom using a heat gun (it was just putty that had gone solid). No marks there.
I'll get a picture of the base up later.
