    Hi joolies!
    My last gift to myself:joyful:
    Found on French Ebay, a pair of huge cuffs, each set with an oval carnelian, similar to the one with an oval lapis I kyratised with tin foil!
    One depicting squirrels/dormouses eating grapes among flowers and leaves,
    The other depicting two affronted dragons among clouds.
    No hallmarks nor inscription except one bearing a stamped G in a rectangle.

    7cm or 2.75" large by 4cm or 1.5" front width.

    Heavy as hell at 178g the pair, which leads me to think only the ornate part is silver (the frame has to be stiff and sturdy, and silver plated is more appropriate).

    120€ for the pair, a bargain for me!
    (No thrift stores here and car boot sales are miserable:facepalm:) Resized_20191021_135158.jpg Resized_20191021_135244.jpg Resized_20191021_122022.jpg

    AAHHH! :kiss:True!:happy::joyful:
    I'm always stumped with the thrift bargain prices I see on board here...
    Even when I hunted on real field, I got nothing for cents...:wideyed:

    I can't get those US bargains here either, and don't know of anyone who can.
    We are both in Western Europe, different situation. Fewer poor people and more savvy people I guess. The first one is good, of course, the second one not so good for bargain hunting.

    Two for the price of one is very good though.:happy:

    Chinese symbolic meaning of squirrel:
    "The squirrel (松鼠 sōng shǔ) uses the same character in Chinese, confirming the Western name for a squirrel ‘tree rat’ and has the same symbolism. Rats and squirrels are often shown with trailing plants such as vines to give the wish for generations of children."

    I hope to be able to travel at some stage in the future. Don't know how mr AJ will be though, change is confusing to him, so even if I can travel I will have to stay with him.

    There will probably be more bargains on your side in the coming years.:( Things don't look good.:sorry:
