Asian Dish

    My maternal grandmother gave me this. I suspect it was a gift to her by my uncle who was in the Korean Conflict and perhaps obtained it as a souvenir while there. GIs sometimes visited places in Japan when they had leave. Some identify it as a lemon server, others say trinket dish. I always called it a bonbon. Guess it could be used to serve anything that would fit on it. It has with the Rising Sun mark. :cat:

    Often referred to as a "lemon nappy." Google lens only brought up the info that a similar mark apparently shows a Japanese factory from the late 1940s. From the style, form and decoration, I'm thinking 1920s/30s. A visit to gotheborg.com Japanese marks might elucidate more.
