Could be. I guess some of the Buddhas but their gender is hard to tell sometimes. What is he/she holding? Like a mallet and singing bowl ?

The crown looks Cambodian to me. I have no idea what the story behind the musical instrument is. It could be a very local or even personal Buddha representation.

Thanks, Mat. Just a theological/iconographical question, since Japanese faiths are not my forte:
I see Bosatsu described as a Japanese Boddhisattva (Buddha aspect), but also as an Apsara. The clouds and musical instruments are more in keeping with an Apsara.
Do you know if a Bosatsu is a mix of the two? Or maybe something from pre-Buddhist Japanese mythology, adapted to Buddhism?

The information below is from this site:

AnyJewelry, yes, I also know Bosatsu normallyas Bodhisattva, and I do not know why these are called like that. As I understand they are a kind of Apsara, originating in the Buddhist tradition...

Thanks, Mat. All that different local folklore is very interesting, but at the same time confusing. Especially when it comes to Buddhism, which was founded to get rid of any folklore.;) But people are people, and will do what people do, no matter what great teachers say. It is one of the things that makes art interesting.
Apsaras are more of a Hindu thing, but who cares. The Japanese clearly don't.:)

@Mr masterson , I think this is all we have for now. If you like, you can start a new thread with photos of your painting. Maybe we will be able to find out more.
