Asian unmarked bowl. Chinese or Japanese?

    Looks like Japanese Imari, but I don't know how old.

    ETA: Maybe look under Japanese octagonal Imari bowl to find something similar to yours.

    Wonder whether goat is a zodiac reference & do they use the same system in Japan?

    That is not a goat but a Kirin, a mythical beast. ( My profile pic is one, too, by the way). I would date your bowl to the late Edo period, 1820-60 maybe...
