IMG_4009.jpeg IMG_4011.jpeg IMG_4005.jpeg IMG_4012.jpeg IMG_4008.jpeg IMG_4013.jpeg So, I bought this ring online for 3€ and I only saw blurry pictures, so when I got it home today I was pleased.
The shank is silver and a bit crude, the top is 14 carat yellow gold with onyx and a small diamond in the middle.
I can t seem to 'get' this ring though...
When I just saw it I thought: nice little modernist ring!
But then I noticed two marks on the back of the top. One has letters, (I think: V* h), the other looks like a '5' (maybe used to be 585?) and then the silver shank starts.
Could it be possible the ringtop is older (maybe possibly late art deco) and they just soldered a silver shank on it as a repair?
Its a small ring, but it fits me perfectly, so I m happily wearing it 'as is' now.
    But any opinions are welcome.
    Thank you!

Very sweet.:) The head is Art Deco, and I agree, something seems to have been done to it.
Maybe it didn't start out life as a ring but it was converted later on.

Not knowing for sure is sometimes difficult for me.

I understand, you need clarity. Unfortunately I can't solve the riddle for you.:(

    AJ, its ok.
I think it might always have been (intended as) a ring. Maybe the shank got broken, maybe it didn t have a shank and they just finished it with this silver one. Or maybe it was a pendant at one time, could also be.
I think it works great as a ring for now, but maybe I might change the shank at one time with a golden one that better fits the top part.
(If gold prices ever drop) :cat:

Did anyone notice my 'new' famille rose plate? I found two of them for 1€ each in a second hand store (kringwinkel) two weeks ago.
They are not very valuable but I loved their colors.
They show the jewelry better than my window sill does (or vallauris plate or whatever weird other stuff I use to make pictures on)

    AJ right, its Imari.
My knowledge of ceramics is a bit rusty at best
But the price was right so no risk there

I bet that started as an earring.

I thought the same, the bottom part of a long Art Deco earring.

I’ve seen quite a few earrings repurposed as rings. A friend had a pair of gold and diamond rings which has started life as her grandmother’s. Two daughters, so each got a ring.

OBB yes indeed. Its a bit sad the earrings got seperated, but on the other hand: its also beautiful two daughters get matching rings

Aquitaine Is What It IS! But NEVER BORED!

Wish I could have gotten this clearer as all I can define (I think) is what
    looks like a '6'......

And rotating it, wondering if it says something besides a potential '6'...

    Aquitaine, thanks for the effort!
The one mark nearest to the silver shaft says '5' and the other things it says are unreadable because the shaft starts. I thinkt it just says 585 since I tested it and its 14 carat gold.
In one of my pictures you may see the '5' a bit clearer.
The other mark are two letters with something in between...the first letter really looks like 'V', maybe its V*h

Very cute! I would wear it too. Agreed with others that it was probably an earring...that crossbar across the back is something you see with those.
