    Hi everyone,
I got this for 2 euros at a thrift store in Paris. Do you think it has any value? The sides just have flower patterns whereas normally it would have a coat of arms which makes me think it's a replica from the 60s or 70s. They started making these in the middle ages. I read they still make them so I'm assuming this is just a replica made for tourists. It has the word "FRECHEN" carved into the bottom (they name of the town they originally came from).

I think it could be even later, but still a fun piece. I love Bartmann jugs.
Just to be clear, we don't do valuations, but yours is a more general question. The chip influences the value of course, but for those who don't mind a bit of damage the value would be more than you paid for it.

Nice jug. If nothing else it has aesthetical value. If you want to know fiscal value of it, search for 'frechen jug' on eBay and apply the sold items filter. Don't get too excited as yours may well be a modern repro. Still bonny though.

I'd love to own an original 16th-17th Barttman some day, but even a superb hand-thrown replica would do !
Met a guy who'd been mudlarking for years on the Thames foreshore and had buckets of wonderful things, but not a Bellarmine.
He eventually broke down and paid full price from a well-know collector and expert in the form.:p
