    The basket is fixed to
a carved V-shaped base with wooden rods. Looks traditional African village/tribal I would think? I was thinking maybe a carrier for a mule/donkey back or such? I also considered a baby basket.

I only took these 2 photos. Its maybe 80cm long and stands about 50cm high. Thanks for for any comments and help

When I saw your first photo, I thought it was much larger, and some sort of sledge for transporting things. Then the 2nd photo shows it is smaller than I thought.

The weaving material looks like unpeeled rattan (based on the regular nodes visible along the lengths), which would suggest an origin in Asia or west/central Africa. Beyond that I cannot speculate.

Well,I appreciate the reply and your thoughts on it. I also considered a sledge at first, but then thought it should be much smoother on the bottom for that or show signs wear. Also the 2nd photo does make it look smaller than it really is (poor angle, sorry about that!) Maybe I will go take for another look because it intrigues me a little. Thanks again
