More baskets from an auction I posted a bunch from a while ago. The one with the metal straps is marked “Johnsons” but I can’t find any info on the company. What would you call this type of basket with the metal straps? The Johnsons logo has an arrow through it if that helps at all. Just wondering if any of the others have an particular value outside of being decorative? Any info on any of them is appreciated even if they don’t have any value. I know there are some basket heads here and I always like to learn more about them. Excuse the contents, they are catch all’s at the moment.
All appear to be Asian made, and of only decorative value, except for the one with the metal bands. It could be described as a wood splint and rattan basket (rattan has been used as the horizontal weavers on the sides), reinforced with metal bands. It looks rather industrial, similar to this one currently listed on ebay: https://www.ebay.com/itm/Antique-W-...tal-Wood-Reinforced-A-87-/132995570271?_ul=IL

Thanks, good to know! I thought that may be the case. I did see a couple examples with metal bands but was surprised it stopped there. I would have thought it wouldn’t be such a rare find. When I saw that post originally I wondered if the coal mining connection was legit and how they came to it.
