Splurge on my end. I was searching for vintage cathedral beads in vintage necklaces on Ebay, and stumbled on this auction. Not sure why Ebay showed me these ("cathedral" not in any part of the description) but I'm grateful, and I bid and won. I am BEAD OBSESSED and may take these apart as the necklace has damage, but at the moment can only stare at them.

The necklace is missing a strand, but I paid up for these. Great clasp, but no signature anywhere. Grabbed the seller's photos below. I have already received them and the beads are pristine.

Who are our bead gals? @Joan @Marko @evelyb30 ?? --- I know more of you are out there...

No particular questions, more of a show and tell.

Even had a especially nice clasp:

    Maybe Italian? Haskell?

I've seen them, but never differentiated from any other brightly colored wee glittery baubles...I'm grateful for the descriptor, Lucille...I'll paw through my beads, see if I've got any of 'em...Thanks!

Your cathedral beads to my untrained eyes are spectacular, and none of the Google images came back w/ anything this unique. Are the blobby globules of art glass applied to the surface of the base bead a rarer form ?

Thanks for the vote of confidence. Yep. unique...especially in this quality. That's why I went for them. (AND using the life-is-short defense!) :woot:

Actually these aren't cathedral beads. I was searching cathedral beads and these popped up. Not sure why.

Let's be clear, here...trained eyes are a bit like trained cats; there is more intelligence in one cat (untrained, of course) than there is in a kennel full of most dogs, with all the training money can buy! Training is simply conditioning...yer eyeballs are hooked to yer brain (that's where the real training an' its resultant reside an' function. Eyes are just infrastructure.

Very, very pretty!! I'm not a bead collector (though I have a big pile of inherited vintage/antique ones from my grandmother who was obsessed!) but I love a good sparkle!

Japanese nougat beads, or something like that. I don't know the real name, but I love sparkly bits inset into white-ish candy-looking matrix. They look like old school Italian nougat candy.

Egad! I've always been bead obsessed. I used to make beadwork jewelry and I have a massive store of jars full of beads. :)

You can tell how old these pieces are from the date on one of them! LOL. I used to sell these.
