I've just found this cabinet up on auction with truly low estimated price and I've just also found similar one ( but absolutely not the same) here:
    https://www.christies.com/lotfinder...1568&sid=c34b5281-69b6-4158-9071-1c185b175e86

What I see with my naked eye from images I've posted here, this one looks much better, than that from Christie ( I don't mean a condition, just a design), there are beautiful castors and gilding, but I am not experienced enough. Is it this same period? Or maybe this one I've found may be earlier version? I don't think about buying it ( I love it, but temporary I have no place),this is just a curiosity :). 44776e9c-cea6-44e7-a5e7-aa4f0128016b.jpg 83dae332-58fe-46f1-9c76-aa4f01251feb.jpg 4ac88bad-8d32-4f90-ae88-aa4f01264c14.jpg

    Both are described as Victorian

    kyratango Bug jewellery addiction!

Not ebony... ebonized, which means black finish :)
In France, Napoleon III era, lots of similar furniture. Price depends of condition... Restoration is very costly:(

I guess, I owe you an explanation, I used sometimes two languages at the same time, like here). In Polish we use this "tender" term also for ebonized furnitures, mea culpa ;-).

As Kyra said, ebonized. The wood was often cherry. Does this one have replacement castors?

Herter Brothers in New York made a lot of excellent ebonized furniture in the 1870s-80s. Not saying they did this one, but it does appear to be high quality.

Thanks, I've just found them, this is the feast for my eyes indeed ). Although the probability ( auction is nearby London ) points on British one, but who knows -)
