Or actually red and orange; there's an orange band at the 3d and 4th rings. It's a friend's 40th anniversary. This vase has been sitting here unloved for years and as it's a nice ruby color. Anyone know who made this and when?

It reminds me of Paden City Penny Line.

Peggy is almost right, while it does look a lot like Paden City Penny Line, the low goblets in that line have a wafer between the bowl and foot.

I believe these are Futura pattern by Canton. I stumbled across it when double checking Chat About to make sure it wasn't Penny Line. Chat About wisely put Penny Line as keywords for this piece as well so it came up in my search

Thanks. The one in the image is straight up red, but it probably was a variant. Probably not horribly valuable, but it looks good.

In order to get the red color, the glass has to be reheated, called restruck after it is taken from the mold. If the glass isn't heated evenly when it is restruck, it will appear anywhere from yellow to orange. It isn't unusual to find pieces that have orangish areas.

Just as an FYI, when a piece isn't restruck evenly on purpose, the result is Amberina glass, with distinct changes in color from yellow to orange to red. However, when it isn't intentional, such as your piece, it's not called Amberina. If you sell it online, you should mention the color variance.

It's not being sold; it's headed to a friend's house. Fortunately my total investment in it is (drumroll) 50 cents.

Oh and I forgot to say, depending on size, which you didn't provide, it appears it may be a footed low goblet or other drinking vessel rather than a vase

Thanks. I'd figured as much. I may have to go to a backup vase.
