What is the cleaners to use to clean up this old railroad Lantern?

I dont need it to sparkle like new, just get the dirty dirt off and not cause damage?

Fine Wire Brass Brush with some white vinegar works pretty good and not very expensive.

I'd just worry about knocking the dirt off; the rust is part of the appeal. Officially speaking. (LOL)

As the Antiquary said to Lovel, "the dust was very ancient"
I would say soapy warm water and soft brush should be enough. I don't see rust and I guess you don't want the age gone.

An oldie - task light that would have been used on ships, factories or anywhere you need light. The convex lens would magnify the light. The soft wire brush (brass) is best to clean the loose rust, then coat in in mineral oil to protect it from future moisture. It's likely 1900-30's.
