Biedermeier candlestick

    It'a a small brass candlestick, made of two parts. These are called Biedermeier from where I come from, but I suppose they have nothing to do with the actual Biedermeier period but are rather second half of the 19th century?

    I don't see anything specifically Biedermeier.
    you don't give a size.
    may have been part of a priest's set for visiting the dying, unction etc..
    or for travel, or if English then for hiding away at the time when Catholicism was chased.

    At 12 cm tall this candlestick is pretty small. In old Europe [Scandinavia, Germany, probably elsewhere too] candles were lit in windows from the start of Advent until Christmas. As many old homes often had quite small windows, tiny candlesticks were quite common. They were also carried to light the way in houses without electricity, and placed on bedside tables.
