    Found this huge Sake (or Soy Sauce,etc) Jug (Tokkuri) at a sale.14 1/4 inches tall,7 3/4 pound weight.From the look of the vessels construction,it appears that the top 1/5th was applied (it might/might not be a smoothed seam line).
    I haven't seen this type of simple incised calligraphy before on a Tokkuri- but I'm no expert.
    Will try Google Translate too see if I (or We-feel free to jump in) can figure out the wording.

    三 = 3
    酒 = Sake
    No idea (yet) what the 3rd text is

    Thanks Marote ! You'd take this empty to the Sake Shop or Brewery and get it refilled with 3 gallons (or 3 measures of something), or was this the price (3 Yen), number 3 Quality Sake wine ?
    PS-Perhaps the third mystery character's the name of the business.
    As always- 'Domo arigato Maro-san !'

    Third one could be 水
    This translates to water, but combined with 三 (三水), that becomes Sanshui
    Based on the google translation of a baike.baidu.com-page, there was a Sanshui brewery, but that's in China (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sanshui,_Foshan) :rolleyes:
