Black Americana, Terra Cotta? Figurine. Age?

    Hi all, Just picked this up today. She is 3 1/4" tall
    I know she is made out of some kind of clay.
    The painting doesn't look very old though, So I brought her here for you all to look.

    I don't think she's American. Looks more like a figurine from somewhere in Latin America, perhaps one that has a large population descended from Africans. (Those are usually the ones where sugar cane is grown.)
