    Aren't they just!. Such wonderful artists that really knew horses.
    Snapped these up the moment I saw them. I'm currently looking at lightboxes to display them.

    Those look so familiar! I must have read the edition in which these were included.

    I found a Wikipedia article about the illustrator Winifred Austen. She was well known for her sensitive depictions of animals. Black Beauty is not mentioned in the article. She was very talented!

    They are beautiful, K. And so nice that they made magic lantern slides of them, just imagine all the little girls who enjoyed the wonder of the slides.
