    It looks older to me, possibly 1890-1900. Can we see the clasp open?
    It is so-called French jet, which was generally not French and never jet but black glass. Many were made in Bohemia.

    Yes, I thought so. I'm still on 1890-1900 for the period.

    It doesn't chip like jet, and if it is cold to the touch, like glass, it isn't jet.
    You can also test it by rubbing a bead on an unglazed tile (back). If it leaves a brown streak it is jet.
    Ebonite and vulcanite also leave a brown streak, but those materials are not this glossy.
