This was also in that lot of hand forged tools, but I am having a hard time deciding if it is old or fresh off the boat & made to look like it is old.

I was going to use it to hold some stuff out in my garage but wanted to run it past some more knowledgeable eyes first. ;):happy:

It is 5 3/4" top to bottom, 6 5/8" across & the holder portion is 3" deep.

Thanks for any & all advice or opinions!!!!:kiss::kiss:

BTW if you can't help with this one, I am having a very needy Monday & have multiple items posted that I need ID help with today. :D:D:D

It looks old to me .. could be made to hold letters, bills, etc. or even spices .. Joy.

I know it looks old, but the crackled designs always give me pause.

Yes, the crackled designs do appear to be purposefully put on the item .. but it could be just part of the original design, the crackliing appears to be too orderly to try to 'appear' old in order to fool someone .. hard to tell by a picture. I'd take it into an antique shop for hands-on viewing .. it's very nice, Joy.

Agree on all points: right size/shape for mail; textured surface appears deliberate & not really meant to look like the result of age.
