Hello all, I found these 2 pieces yesterday at a local thrift store. Doing a image search I found some were called calender toppers & some were advertisement for a railroad company. Mine both have similar measurements (visible Wind Talkers 22" x 13.5" and Bull Head Medicine Man 25.25" x 15.5") But none that I found had the same text at the bottom as mine has on the medicine man poster. I'm guessing these are from the 50's or 60's by their look, but that's just a guess. Can anyone tell me what these are? (I am thinking these may just be souvenir postersshop? the Glacier National Park gift shop?) & how old are they? Thank you for any help & wishing everyone a successful weekend whether selling your treasures like me at our weekend estate/garage sale or if your out hunting treasures at your local estate/garage sales, thrift shops, etc. !
There are quite a few on Liveauctioneers that may help determine age. https://www.liveauctioneers.com/search/?keyword=winold reiss&sort=-relevance&status=archive
Yes, but notice bottom of my Wnd Talkers say only the title, while one (& others) on live auctioneers has railroad sligan/credit. That's why I'm worried mine are just souvenir posters - although size is same/close
This may not be much help, but... I don't think these are calendar toppers, due to their sizes. It would be a very large calendar! (Not completely out of the question, though.) Also, the difference in their captions leads to a feeling that they were not originally from the same printing, or the same set. Museums tend to be the ones who put better copyright information onto their prints. So if either of them was a museum souvenir, I'd think it would be the Bull Head one. However, it still could be something else. The Sign Talkers one could be from Glacier National Park gift shop, but you'd think they would give an attribution. I'm stumped on that one, unless it was just a reprint that somebody did with no copyright information. (I've seen that done on more recent posters and desk calendars.) Just some thoughts...
