I was wondering if this was made in Mexico or where , it feels like cotton and wool mixture. Any ideas ?

    Thank You

Yes, it's Mexican. a traditional pattern from the Altiplano region of central Mexico, and comes in many color variations.

They generally have a cotton warp, but I can't tell what the weft is.

Are you sure the birds are embroidered, and not woven in?

It looks Zapotec but what makes me confused us that I find only US websites describing it as such. Traditional Zapotec sarapes with birds are based on the image of arbol mundi, the world tree. Those I've seen in Oaxaca and Chiapas but not the linear version.

It seems embroidered! Now, even more questions about its origins.
"Altiplano" means plateau and it covers half of Mexico.

The birds look woven in to me. I agree, a cotton warp, the weft looks like wool.
I see these advertised as being from Teotitlán del Valle (Zapotec), but that could just be because it is the best known weaving village.

I saw those too, but the weaving from Teotitlán they are famous for looks thicker to me. I had some examples at home I´ll try to find today.

Those are coasters but the weaving look a bit different to me.
