blessed water pile, silver 916???

Never seen the 916 mark. What do you think it could be? Bought in Spain.

Should I polish it?

And, yes. No reason not to polish it.

It is lovely, and definitely polish it. It is best to use a sunshine cloth, sunshine is the brand.
For a long time, from 1881 onward, .916 was the highest fineness used in Spain. Only in the late 20th century did they start using .925 fineness (sterling) and very rarely .999.

 

I'd call it a household Holy Water receptacle. We had several in the house.
