Blue and white.. what?

    This time with a very standard question, which sounds: what it is and how modern it may be ( edit: probably medicine pot/ jar?)?     I'm wondering if the top holds ink and the bottom water for painting.
    Maybe not, just a thought though.

    It was also one of my thought, but the most similar images I've found were described as medication pots, so I focused on it. But the wider point of view the better -)

    On a chinese pottery forum they told me it is a modern chinese brush pot, you were very close indeed. And I'm going use it now that way -)
