    Hello,

I have this brooch and I'm kind of stuck ... is it Victorian or about so ? (based on the long pin and the safety clasp). It looks like it was more elaborate than what it is now.. Any way to tell about its origin ? I hope I'm not asking too much.. thank you for looking !:):):)

If you do a search on the Forum on the word Solje, you will find some previous threads.

Absolutely a Norwegian sølje brooch, enameled gilt brass, late 19th-early 20th century. It is missing its dangles, but still very pretty. The good thing is, all the enamel is intact. That is usually the first thing to get damaged.
They call this Marius Hammer style, but it is not by Hammer.

To give you an idea of the dangles:

Maybe you can find brass replacements.
I have seen one where someone had put small stone beads in a matching colour on the sølje instead of the traditional dangles, which looked nice. In this case you could put turquoise beads on, or turquoise glass.

I'd try to find sequins like these in matching colors:

Oh, wonderful! The colour is a bit intense, but you're on the right track, hope for the sølje, yay!

Thank you, everybody ! Now I've learned about Marius Hammer too.. :)
I like the idea of adding sequins and they match well, but I think I will leave it to the buyer.. as I have 2 left hands and 0 patience to do it (if I absolutely have to fix broken jewelry, I usually bribe my daughter to do it, but lately she doesn't want to do it either :smuggrin:)
