    Hi,
For some reason I am getting a California pottery vibe. I have an early Bauer with the same glaze and shape but the bottom is different. I will have to dig it out and check just to be sure.

    Thanks for the reply.
Did not Bauer use white clay?
I feel like I've seen this glaze before but can't remember where.
    North Carolina?

    Hi,
You are right Bauer did have a white clay. I knew the bottom was different.

If you really think it may be North Carolina pottery here are two links (both of which show contact information) where the people may be able to help you identify the pottery.

First link is to the Pottery Center in Seagrove, NC

    http://www.ncpotterycenter.org/

Second link is to the upcoming (this coming Saturday) Catawba Valley (North Carolina) Pottery Festival (there is contact information on the website which might be able to help you). I would wait until next week to contact them simply because the upcoming festival probably keeping them busy. ;)

FYI, Bauer started out in Kentucky.
On the other hand, it's rare to see a piece of his, either old or newer, that was not signed. :)

Look at the bottom of the Waco example you found. Looks similar the bottom of your vase. You can search Waco on the site I provided.

Early hand thrown Bauer is a yellowish clay with concave bottom, later production line Bauer ala 1950s used more of white clay.
