Will someone please let me know the manufacturer of this platter...I can't seem to figure it out. Thank you! 20211019_153128.jpg 20211019_153149.jpg 20211019_153212.jpg

I'm a glass guy, don't know squat about burnt dirt. On that note let me hazard a guess that the J. stands for Johnson Bros, or just Johnson pottery, Possibly known for soft paste 'porcelain"

The mark says: genuine stone china with a J in the center.

There is a British transferware group on FaceBook, or you can Google it. There is a data base of pattern names and marks. They may have identified it.

    I'm unconvinced it's British.

I have Googled it and have come up with nothing. I was hoping someone on here might recognize it or have a reference book of markings etc.

I've checked some marks books for British (Goddens), American (Debolts and Lehners) and general marks (Kovels) without seeing it. No book is going to have everything and all marks that were used by a company are rarely shown. Could also have missed it especially if the J is not actually the makers initial.

Eventually someone may find it but sometimes it can take a long time.

Thank you, SIS. I appreciate your time. I'm in no rush; just curious. I usually have no issues finding makers but this one has me stumped! Again, I appreciate your effort.
