Book? Internet source? What is the best way to identify pottery marks?

I am new here and you all know so much more than I do, so instead of asking for specific help on more marks (which I could do all day long), I thought I would ask, for someone like me who does not have years of experience with pottery, what resources do you use to identify it? Or do you just know from previous experiences? I pride myself on being good on the internet and I have Kovels Dictionary of Marks, but I keep coming up empty.... It is kind of the "give a man a fish" vs "teach a man to fish" kind of question ... I want to learn how to fish for pottery marks!
