Final request for help today from a bunch or cool, vintage & unusual stuff I bought from a friend who won a storage unit at a auction.
Is this a family crest or just décor? It is heavy & sturdy feeling, not cheap at all.
Are the figures made of brass or bronze?
When is this from & what should I call it?
Thanks again for all the help today

The pheasant has a band on its leg; doesn't seem very sporting. Agree with AJ, decor. I would call it a hunting trophy design, similar in concept to the arms trophies I see on some engraved gems. Don't know if this description would mean much to most people. There are some other elements in there besides the hound, hare & game bird; not sure what they all are. The plant is not heather.

If the plaque were a cut gemstone, I would call it marquise or navette, an ellipse with pointed ends. Maybe someone will come along with a one-word term.

So now you know what words not to use.

It looks like a grouse, maybe a capercaillie.
The ring could mean it was reared on an estate for hunting.

    I shouldn't know all this, I am a pescatarian.

Think you are right that it is not a pheasant, something smaller. That's what I meant about the band meaning not sporting; bred to be game.

Based on a hunting trophy such as this one by Grinling Gibbons:

Trophy, in this case, being more a collection of appropriate attributes than an awarded prize.

I'm really not being funny but this looks a little like a Best Hound of Show award.
It does look like a nice piece of work. It's that the dog's head is alert and noble and looking right, with all that decoration around it and the game - rabbit and grouse or whatever - are sort of lying at his feet like trophies / retrievals.
