Any idea where this may come from and how old it may be?
Beautiful brass ancient Egyptian design hammered cresset.
Pyramids, trees, sphing, people desert oasis. Many details. No markings. Brass is rather thin and looks old. Thanks.

Is that a big porcelain chip showing on the rim?

There is no porcelain there. It’s a light reflection. All brass.

Can you please post some larger images of the design, in the correct orientation. From what I can see, the imagery looks like it might be Coptic.

It looks like "highlights of your trip to Egypt" - pyramids, sphinx, maybe Copts. So probably a piece made for sale to tourists.

Not many like this out there for sure. Thanks again. I will read a little about Coptic church, only person that I remember being Copt was Butros Ghali. As a fellow Orthodox i should know more :shame:

I agree, an Egyptian souvenir. Probably has some age, 1930s maybe?
I think any Coptic element on these souvenirs is without actual meaning. They are just added for the Egyptian look.;)
Don't worry, different Orthodoxy.:) You can't be expected to know them all.

Thanks. As far as Orthodoxy goes, we share the same common beliefs. Hope I’m not offending someone but I don’t care for differences much. As Serbian Orthodox I feel the same Beautiful feeling in Russian, Greek, Ethiopian or Armenian Church. I’ll look for Coptic church in my area to visit. Thanks again.

I don't either. Differences have more to do with history and culture, than with the spiritual nature of people. It is the bond with the spiritual that is the common factor, and that is what you can feel in any setting. As long as you are not held back by the notion of difference.;)
