    I recently acquired what I believe to be a middle eastern astrolabe / sundial type object. Can anyone please tell its approximate age, origin, value, and authenticity, to best of ability through attached photos.

    Guessing something a good Muslim would have to know the time of day & the direction of Mecca, so prayers could be made properly through the day.

    Looks like something you would find at a low end back alley street market for lower income people.

    We have seen a number of similar ones in the Grand Bazaar in Istanbul.

    I think it is genuinely what it appears to be & meant to be used, not some kind of decorative approximation. But if you are hoping it is wonderfully old or terribly rare...
