Bronze fitting — goat head motif. Roman or later?

    Hi all,

I came across this bronze fitting with a goat head design. There’s a hole in the mouth and a spike on the back, which suggests it was mounted onto something — maybe furniture or horse gear?

I’m curious about its age. Could it be Roman, or is it from a later period imitating the style?

Any insights would be greatly appreciated.

Looks like Pan or other satyr, rather than strictly goat.

To stand before Roman masonry in aqueducts, buildings an' bridges or simple stonework, like roadside retaining walls...an' realize the engineering marvels, the construction techniques an' precision each of them represent...is to experience near overwhelming awe an' appreciation for their durability, beauty, an' in many cases, their continuing function. Absolutely mind-bending monuments to how powerful the Roman Empire was at its peak. Thanks for that pic, Bosco!

That's Segovia's Aqueduct,IMHO it rivals Pont du Gard in France.
