Bronze magicians

Hi, I'm driving myself mad trying to find about these beautifully made French bronzes, they're small, very finely detailed and interesting, a pair of boys, with pageboy haircuts, one with a rabbit and top hat, the other with a small dog and a pot of flowers. There is no id on them, no initials even. The detail is very good, going down to texture of the rabbit hair. Probably the parts have been braised together although you cant see the joins. If anyone can throw any light I would be very grateful.

 

If they're unmarked, how do you know they're French?

This is rather crazy...not a thing is coming up for me, either.

 

They have French clothes.

 

The figure I see is wearing period clothing but there is nothing distinctively French about it. It would be helpful if you posted a photograph of the other figure.

The clothing of the figure with top hat is vaguely Regency and that of the figure with tam vaguely Victorian. I don't think either is terribly old. If they were, I'd expect finer modeling. I'd also expect their clothing to be truer to the period in which they were made. Here's a late-19th century figure of a boy and hare for comparison.

I think they're more likely small, modern decorative items.
