Bronze or brass whatsit holder? signed

    This has me a little stumped. I am sure it is not an antique. It is stamped Made in Italy with a signature on the base and the same on the back of one of the leaves.
    6" tall heavy for it's size at 9 oz. Thinking maybe a holder for a glass vase maybe? Any help with the signature or name would be appreciated.
