This is a antique or vintage coin holder I purchased awhile back at the TS. I put a nickle and penny in it to show what it looks like with them in it. I think it's from the Art Nouveau period and I think it's a Brooch or something to place on a coat, purse flap or belt, etc... There are no maker marks on it. There are 2 screws on the back to attach it with.

I've searched the internet but could not find a coin holder like this with the screw backs. Does anyone know what it should be placed on or what time period it was from or perhaps who might have made this item? Thanks in advance for any information.

Maybe attached to a belt? How far apart are the screws?

Bronwen, the screws are about 1 1/4" apart from point to point.

If it is European, the measurement in mm might turn out to be correct for typical distance between belt holes?

I considered stamp holder, but they seem not to have any kind of spring. This is most like a 'sovereign holder', as far as I can tell.

Value used to be 1 pound. Don't know what you did if you got back change!
