IMG_3422.JPG IMG_3419.JPG I am trying to identify the age and approximate value of a three piece bedroom set (vanity, three drawer dresser and four drawer dresser) that used to belong to my grandparents. I don't know where they bought it but they lived in Chicago from the 1930s to the 1970s. There are no makers markings anywhere on the set. I have attached a photo of the vanity. The decoration on the face of the vanity also appears on the top drawer of each dresser. Any help is appreciated.

Mid 20th century (30's to 70's) seems likely. Pull out a drawer and show the dovetails, plus drawer bottom and side, to get more informed opinions. Extra points for pics of the back and underneath so we can see how it was made

Getting a 1940s vibe. Unusual painting on the drawer front for such a vintage.

Thanks for the replies. I found a marking "1482" stamped into the back of the vanity. I attached some additional photos to help.

Great pics. The bottom of the drawer in particular makes me think this likely dates from the earlier end of the range (20’s to 40’s). You need to be careful cleaning painted furniture, but a damp cloth should be safe. Just start slow and check while doing it that no damage is occurring. If that isn’t sufficient use a bit of soap or detergent with the water, always checking for damage. Should clean up nicely.

At first Like you I thought that this was a later drawer bottom, and was going to say it was a later 20th century piece. But then I remembered seeing these glued wedge pieces and nails on a depression era waterfall front chest I used to have before I gave it away. So I finally concluded it was from that period, though not conclusive.

Figtree3 What would you do if you weren't afraid?

Looks like the 1482 is also on the back of the dresser that you are showing.

The painted design does seem very unusual for that period!
