    Any idea of date/origin please?
Metal is very lightweight base metal.
Butterfly wing is behind glass- don’t know if it’s real or not but it’s a stunning colour. Quite large at 6.5cm across.
    Thankyou :)

Amazing colour, K. I would say 1890-1900, but let's wait for the costume joolies.:)

I find it a slightly odd mismatch of the cheaply stamped out base and the stunning centre. They look like they could have come from two bits of jewellery and married a long time ago. Obviously it’s lost all its colour on the base over the years.

A heck of a lot more than me!

Maybe you are right as the corners align so well with the pattern.

    :shy:
It would have looked even more flamboyant when it was new, with all the enamel still in place. Perfect new project, I think.:)

Do you think each of the nobbles was a different colour- so little paint to go on. What's left doesn't look shiny like enamel but I suppose it's very elderly paint!

Jivvy the research is my favorite

    I think it's a possibility.

I'd be interested to hear @Hollyblue on the fit. Bezel doesn't look right to me, but sometimes magnification makes things look wonkier than they actually are.

Czech/Bohemian which makes me wonder if it isn't good art glass. I'd think early 20th.

I think you are correct OBB. How incredibly clever to make glass that looks so like butterfly wing. And clever if you to know about it!

There you go. I am very fond of Czech and Bohemian art glass.

Amazing. Those Bohemians/Czechs could copy almost anything in glass.
