I never buy furniture, but for $15 ? I just wanted some feedback on this oak topped,maple/mahogany leg piece. It's 17 1/2" tall by 19" across and looks like it could be Spanish Colonial/Tudor Revival ? The tiles might be by Taylor,Catalina or who knows. Any help from one of our furniture experts would be awesome-Thanks ! All feedback welcome.

Thanks Whit-I remember fondly as a lad back in the 60's one saw these in California, especially in what was known as 'Hippie Pads'. I of course didn't loiter at these dens of iniquity, I speak only as an impartial observer-a chronicler of the era.

Also, D&M Tile and Malibu made tile in that style. My guess is D&M or Taylor. Nice!

Great find for $15. These used to go for $300 and up. Not sure what they go for these days. Would think round more rare than square. I would think probably Taylor.

Great find alright. I would have said 70s but no doubt 60s works as well. Groovy!!

Great looking and functional. You can set your cup or glass right on the surface, no coaster needed.

Thanks for the insights all. I always thought they were fun, bright & sunny pieces -cheery.We live in an MCM Ranch house now and it looks good, but when we lived in a 1920's stucco bungalow in California-holy moly, everything from those days looked great in that place. We even had a vintage bakelite dial phone in a built-in phone nook !

I think most of these tables date 20s-40s. Always popular in CA and the Southwest, I am sure they were constant features in homes through the decades. They are quite durable. Often can be picked up for little in other parts of the country. I have several and have sold several on eBay when prices were at their height. There are Eastern tile top tables but they usually feature iron frameworks.

Brad-I'm out there w/ 'American Pickers' freewheelin' the Blue Highways of our nation,at least in my mind !
PS-The tables w/ wrought iron are beauties. My fantasy tables a Monterey wood & iron base w/ a California mission scenic top (dream-on !).

Just got a chance to have a look on ebay. Prices are better than they were a few years ago. The run-of-the-mill tables are still off a bit but the nicer tables are bringing some strong prices. I just stored some tables I have, as I did not want to give them away. I could not get even $45.00 locally for one small one, much less more for some better ones. Might need to break them out again at some point if I want to deal with shipping again.

Took a look through my picture archives to see if I had any pictures of mine. The only one on this computer is this one. Think I picked it up locally for about $15.00 several years ago. It is a bit unusual for a CA table, since it has plain tiles. This is a fairly large table. Might not looks so with big fat Herman underneath. ;)

Agree the look is definitely 1920s-1930s. The tile tables after the golden age of Tile Manufactures in Calif 1900-1930s have a much different look using Mexican tiles or MCM designs from the later Calif pottery companies. My tile book is not with me right now... otherwise I would take a look for your design. I have bought and sold many over the years and only kept a few. Once at an estate sale in the back yard under the dirt I spied a bit of black and yellow tile. Excited to find an old piece of tile I got on my knees to uncover it and would you believe I found a complete circle set of tile in the dirt. It was a Catalina set in excellent condition. I sold it for $1200. ah those were the days.

This table is so pretty! I wasn't sure what to expect because the tile tops I've seen I didn't like, but that one is an art piece!

Herman has become more svelte in his old age. That picture was taken several years ago. Here is a more recent picture.
