Bought this battered case and contents at auction. I'm known for being queasy at the sight of a hypodermic so maybe not one of my better buys! Now to work out what things are called, and what they were used for :yuck:. And managed to avoid the sharp well hidden in the lining.

    Midwives home birth kit.
I see cervical dilators, forceps pregnancy calipers and I suspect items that forcibly dilate the cervix during a surgical abortion.

    Edit.
Just noticed some of the items have the military broad arrow "War Dept" on them, unless its an indicator for which end to use.

    GaleriaGila Hola, y'all!

And... thermometer, enema-thingie (?), and a bowl to catch... stuff... in. Anything on the bottom of the bowl? Looks old and oddly un-medical to me.
Henleys is still in existence... has a website. http://www.henleysmed.com/

Maybe they used the bowl to hold the placenta until they could deal with it.

Bowl is very small, 11cm diameter, no makers marks. Just a touch bigger than an antique tea bowl. There was a small portable burner that may have been used for sterilising items, but this bowl is really too small to have boiling water in

Speaking of boiling water.....I wonder how well they've been cleaned:wideyed: There are some bits of stuff in the bottom.

I think the biggest/best clue as to the intended (common) usage of that array of items is the packet of "Sterile Cord Powder."
