Hello everyone, found this print stuck in back of closet, (thought it was long gone, )
Frame looks older and am wondering about approx date. Have searched from 1900-1930. but have not been able to find anything similar, Thank you for any input IMG_0697.JPG IMG_0697.JPG IMG_0699.JPG IMG_0702.JPG

Rough guess 1910 or so, from the frame, the cardboard (pitch that and reline if you're keeping this..please!) and the print. Someone else may say 1900 to 1920, but it's roughly 100 years old.

    Hi,
I have some family in similar frames only hung vertically not horizontal all from the 1920s.

Reminds me a bit of one I have on which the raised floral sprays have been painted. (Do I see traces of paint on yours too?) Mine is oval & contains a print of Maxfield Parrish's Circe's Palace. Most descriptions of the print say it came out in 1908. Don't know whether frame & print were new together, but accords with with the 1910 - 1920s time frame of other opinions.

My great-grandmother decorated with Maxfield Parrish too - and in a similar frame, as I recall. She married in 1901, so when I saw these things in the 50's, they fascinated me.

I love the colors, if not always the subject matter.

This one shows Circe casting the spell that will pull Odysseus's ship to her island. It hangs over the head of my bed.

Are you sure it's a print? Looks to me like it could be a pastel.

Figtree3 What would you do if you weren't afraid?

Right away it reminded me of a pastel I bought once, so I'll guess that it could be a pastel. Without as much certainty as some others who know these things better than I do.
