The big mark is easy - A J and 750, but those bitty ones on the stem part of the flower design... whew. I couldn't get them under a 30x loupe. This was probably made in France, Portugal, or Spain from that trombone hinge. The flowers feel like molded lucite, odd in a gold piece but I've seen weirder.

Is that the French eagle's head double stamped in the first photo?

Take a pencil eraser and rubbed the top of the mark a little bit. It will make the mark stand out - hopefully enough to be able to read it.

French maker's marks are in a lozenge shaped cartouche, so not French.
I have a 1950s German gold brooch with a trombone clasp, so worth broadening the search.
Off to look for 750 in a slightly rounded rectangle.:bookworm:

Aquitaine Is What It IS! But NEVER BORED!

WOW.....that first one is nearly impossible......and so is what I have!!!! If you look at it long enough, you can maybe see some things, but I'm not totally sure of anything there except maybe a "c" on the left and a "5" on the right!!! Maybe I'll back it off and try again.........

That's the problem I have. A USB microscope might help, but ...yike. I tried French, Polish, Portuguese, Spanish...no joy.

I don't know which way up is the right way up, but oriented this way it could be the left hand mark on the stem of the posted brooch:

And this way around also looks like AJ & something:

These are Austrian 750 assay marks. The elephant was introduced in 1922, the depressed looking dog could have been introduced in 1954 or 1967, my Tardy isn't too clear on that. I believe the elephant mark was still in use at the time.
Your marks seem to be different, but Austrian gold/silversmiths didn't always have their items assayed. Maybe below a certain weight was exempt.

That elephant sure looks happy, but then he's worth a good chunk of change and no one's after him for his teeth.

    Yep.
I don't know why the dog is so depressed, he's worth a good chunk of change as well, and no one will ever be after him for his teeth.

No one's feeding him. No one's walking him. Mostly no one's feeding him. And there are no squirrels.

Figtree3 What would you do if you weren't afraid?

Why an elephant on the mark, @Any Jewelry ? There are no elephants in Austria, are there?

I have no idea, maybe they were inspired by the Vienna zoo? They also have a toucan mark for silver, not a bird generally seen in Austria either.:D
