Can anyone tell me anything about this tribal (?) carving?

It may be a mask from Liberia/Ivory Coast, from the Guere/Ngere/We people. The distinctive feature is the pair of horns curving from the sides to the center of the forehead. It looks like it had attachments around the back edge, which may indicate it was actually used (as opposed to made for sale). Also looks like it originally had a beard of animal fur attached at the chin. Not a real refined example, but these were made to be scary.

Looks like you nailed it! Thanks for the great info and examples. I sadly missed the sale in lieu of another one. I did drop the sale runner a note to see if it by chance didn’t sell to see if I could still get it. I’ll update if I do but I doubt it. I absolutely love the old tribal/cultural masks.
