Can anyone tell me what kind of desk this is?

I need help identifying this desk, my dad acquired it over 45 years ago but doesn't know the vintage or maker of it.

    Thanks in advance.

I think this is what is called waterfall furniture. Are there any maker's marks?

We have an old hope chest in a similar style that I think is 1930's but wiser furniture minds will be along.

As others said, waterfall from the 30s of walnut veneer. Condition is everything on these. If veneer is missing and not easily repaired, it is a paint project and worth very little (under $30.00). In very good condition, it has a little better value and it really depends on where you are and selling venue. Here in semi-rural Midwest, somewhere around $100.00 + or - in tip top shape at retail. You might do better in larger cities or worse in extreme Podunkville. Auction prices and other wholesale venues will be lower.

When I see these at estate sales here, they generally go for about the same $100 in decent shape. The waterfall furniture is off the boil at the moment.

Pedestal desk. If it was smaller/narrower, then it'd be called a 'knee-hole' desk.
