Featured CAN I CALL THIS PAINTING "INDUSTRIAL"?

    Hi - I found this at a estate sale & the seller told me it was "industrial".
    Is that what I should/can call this when selling it?
    Any thoughts on it?

    I would call it Social Realism, although later in date than most Social Realist art.

    I agree with AJ, in terms of the social realism style of work.

    I'm also wondering if it was done for a commercial illustration job. Blue-collar workforce theme.

    I think this is a student piece... and that it's not unusual for student pieces to fit the style of social realism.

    I don't think it is the same Patrick Joyce. The article on his health indicates he was born in 1970. This painting is dated 1987. Pretty precocious. Not to mention the very American themes (hats).

    I agree on both the age and the very American theme.
    The style of the Irish Patrick Joyce is also very different.

    The man on the left looks tired and like he carries the weight of the world on his shoulders, not sure that would work for a commercial illustration.
