    Hi there,

My 94 year old grandad found this item and cannot remember its heritage. The contraption had remnants of what looks like wool. I have tried to upload photos and a video but the files are too large. It has a leather strap that goes around the fingers and a little lever that can be moved with the thumb. When the leaver is moved up and down it causes a spool like thing to spin and a metal flap to move away until it snaps back next to the spinning spool. This is not the best description but if you got any questions please please do ask!

    Hi Oli, welcome :),
To resize your photos, try emailing them to yourself (select medium size option) and then save the photos to your device. That should mean they will post!. This is how I do it with my iPad and iPhone. Presume it's by similar for other devices.

Ooh, video. Most of the time we don't get to see how things with moving parts work. Hope you can get it loaded. With no other info to go by, Would this be good if you had to wind up a length of thread or yarn? Size of spool?

That's very interesting and someone will probably know instantly what it is. (hopefully)

Could you tell the rest of us, well me anyway, what happens if you feed wool in, where does it go? Does it wind around something or pass through?

I am afraid I have not tried to feed wool in as I would not know quite the right way to do it and I would be worried to get it jammed up!
