I got given these a long time ago and the person told me they bought them from India? I have a whole set of them like a family. It's a milky white with a bit of green when you hold them up at the light. I've tried my own research but I cannot find anything about these.

    Thanks! Hopefully someone knows!

Look like carved alabaster or other stone to me.

    Would they be worth anything?

    GaleriaGila Hola, y'all!

If you go to eBay and search for "carved India alabaster elephant", you'll see quite a bunch. I just did. Some look very much like your guy. I would suggest looking through them to get an idea of asking prices. :) Good luck!

    EDIT
Or Google the same descriptor for a broader range of items.

If they have a greenish tint it's possible that it's white jade. If they are white jade they would be worth quite a bit. Don't trust anyone who tells you're they are not worth much but then offers to buy them. They could also be a composite which wouldn't be worth much at all. If you have a store near you that sells geodes and other stones they may be able to evaluate them for you. A jeweler might also be able to help.

Jade is harder than steel, so an attempt to scratch a discrete spot, under a foot for example, with a steel blade will just slide off jade but mark alabaster.

I just did the scratch test and it made a little mark but wiped right off and didn't leave a mark? Maybe it was the mark off the steel?

I've just notice that the elephant has a bully button kind of thing like it's been broken off after making? Like glass blowing? Idk

There you go. I've some little glass bits like this which I bought in Hong Kong in the 1980s.

Lots of people collect elephants, and this looks nicely done. You might try looking at it under a black light, to see if it glows. That would make it even more fun!
