So, I've been trying to identify this mark but having some difficulty as I am unfamiliar with these types of marks, and I don't even know which way is up. It's on the base of an antique fertility vase, if that helps. Any knowledge or pointers on where/how to look would be appreciated. Thank you, thank you! This forum has been very helpful.

Greetings, Arguston! It always helps to post a picture of the whole item when requesting ID.

Just noticed that the triangle on the right side contains the number 22 and not just squiggles. Should mean this is unlikely to be "antique."

Shoot... the estate is basically all antiques, mostly late 19thC-early 20thC, so I just assumed they were antique. Here is a pic of the vase:

I've done a little more research, and if it's not an antique, it probably isn't worth all that much ... thanks for pointing that out to me!!

I look at Chinese/Japanese pottery all the time at car boot sales and charity shops and often wonder if I’m missing a treasure. Thing is, I’d probably kiss a huge amount of frogs before I found a prince. I just need a few spare months(years) with nothing to do but mug up on what I should be looking for!.

Hi, I have been told that an orangey look to the base rim is a sign of age in oriental items, hope this helps.

Since there is no "orangey' look to the rim of the base, is it your understanding that this item is not aged, Dory?
