Featured Carved Amethyst Bear

Just got this cutie because it’s lovely & cheap! Have done several image searches on Google to ensure no exact matches from aliexpress anyone has ideas on age and origin please?

 

It’s normal for them to steal images from other sellers. Here you can tell what they’re selling at that price is obviously those in the pictures below. I also did my search on several Chinese shopping sites and no matches but lower quality bears

I think he is Chinese, probably not very old, but very cute.

 

I did see some carved amethyst animals labeled Chinese export( the seller also has a lot of authentic British vintages and antiques, including Art Deco tortoiseshell silverware, so that also suggests the possibility of an export era product), but still no matches…but you can see the quality of amethyst of my bear is visibly higher than those aliexpress bears, so I’m contented anyway

Absolutely!

 

The stone is definitely higher quality. The striped white/purple is more often used for carvings, partly because it costs less. If he were here he'd be sold as a "fetish bear" and at a premium because he's purple.

Sometimes, but amethyst comes that way too. At those prices I'd almost expect glass!
