Hello, I just bought this 22" carved wood club with inlays.

Please check the attached Capt11.JPG Capt12.JPG IMG_6477.jpg IMG_6481.jpg IMG_6482.jpg photos. Could anyone tell me the origin and age?

It's a fa'alautalinga, or "ear-shaped club" from Samoa, in Polynesia. Similar shapes are found in Tonga, but the triangular chipped decoration, filled with lime, is associated with Samoa.

Age is difficult to determine, since these have been made for use as dance clubs, as well as for the souvenir/collectible trade, but the style of more recent examples often do not use the lime, and are often carved and painted. I'd say mid-20th century or earlier.
