    Hi all.

I have this chest that I cannot identify. I don’t know really know how old it is, wood pegs and rough nails hold it together. It has what seems to be bird heads at the peak. I can’t find any other chests online that even come close to resembling it. I don’t know where it’s from...

I’ve looked for makers marks but don’t see anything obvious.

I know essentially nothing about it. :)

    Any ideas?

    Hi Fatbetty.
I get a Norwegian vibe, but I have to say, this is not my area of expertise, so let's wait for the others.
They will probably want more photos, of the inside, details of the construction, carving, etc.

Here it is full image, so everyone can see:

The bird could represent a Phoenix.
A slanted front is strange to me.
    Lets see it opened.

I was wondering if it is actually slanted, or if that is just an optical thing. I hope Fatbetty will be back with more pics.

Strange too, how the top overhangs the front?

Maybe for children to use it as a table?

I have one very similar that the previous owners of our home left. Mine opens on each slanted side, like a pitched roof. Hope someone out there has some answers.
