Featured carved wood carmona figures

found these two doing my bit for charity yesterday

dont think they are fantastic but couldn't resist for £2 each

not finding any information online from the labels underneath

any info on them would be awesome

Don't know what you already know/don't know but... Your window is 1955 to 1975. That's the colonial period when the town of Uíge was called Carmona.

Here's some contemporary Portuguese-language commentary (which I've run through Google Translate for you.) Just snippets, unfortunately.

1959 -- "The Carmona School of Indigenous Art - already so well known throughout Angola is represented by artists who work in the public eye (as is the case with all stands.)"
